The estate planning process often begins when you experience a life-changing event, such as the arrival of a new baby, the death of a loved one, marriage, divorce, retirement or the purchase or sale of a business. It is at those moments when the need for a new or revised estate plan becomes apparent. The next step should be to arrange for a free consultation with Ruth Z. Plave to discuss your personal goals. Based upon this consultation, she will recommend a personalized estate plan that may consist of a simple Will, which disposes of your assets outright to your loved ones at death, or a more advanced estate plan, which may require the use of trusts or other techniques to achieve your goals. In addition, every estate plan should include certain essential documents to prepare for incapacity, such as a durable financial power of attorney, health care proxy and, if desired, a living will.
After the death of a loved one, you may feel off balance and unsure of how to proceed. Whether your loved one has died leaving a Will or without a Will, you may need legal advice with the probate and administration process. Ruth Z. Plave has over 20 years of experience with the administration of estates, including probate and administration proceedings, marshaling and valuing of assets, preparing Federal and state estate tax returns and, if necessary, handling the audit of those returns. The Trustees of a trust require competent and experienced legal advice to properly administer the trust. Ruth Z.
